WCA Functional Assessor – Reading | Hybrid | Monday–Friday | £40,000–£42,000 + Bonuses

If you're an experienced Nurse, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist looking for a change from frontline clinical work, this could be the career move you've been waiting for.
As a WCA Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical knowledge, assessment skills and professional judgement to understand how a person's health conditions affect their functional ability and capacity for work.
You'll speak with people through telephone, video and face-to-face assessments, review medical evidence and produce clear, objective reports based on your findings.
It's a role where your clinical experience really matters — but you're no longer providing hands-on care.
What makes this role different?
£50,000–£51,000 starting salary
5% approval bonus
Up to 10% annual performance and quality bonus
Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
No nights, weekends or bank holidays

Carry out structured WCA assessments
Explore how physical and mental health conditions affect functional ability
Review medical evidence and supporting information
Use clinical reasoning to reach evidence-based conclusions
Produce accurate and detailed reports
Manage your caseload while maintaining quality and accuracyThere is no hands-on care and you won't be diagnosing or treating patients. Your role is to gather the relevant information, assess the functional impact and provide an objective report. The DWP makes the final decision.
Could this be you?We're looking for:
Registered Nurses
Physiotherapists
Occupational TherapistsYou'll need:
Active NMC or HCPC registration
At least 12 months' post-registration clinical experience
Strong communication and report-writing skills
Good IT skills
Strong clinical reasoning and professional judgement
